PLDC listed as an “approved activity”
for maintaining CLD status –
Certified Lighting Designer
PLDC is built around the idea of continuing professional education. In the past, institutions such as CIBSE as well as chambers of architects in Italy and Germany have demonstrated their appreciation of the quality of the event by acknowledging it as CPD. And of late even the IALD list PLDC as an “approved activity” for maintaining CLD status.
Hardly any other event offers the kind of high-quality content, information on the latest trends, and the level of internationality that PLDC does in such a compact form. CLD recertification stipulates that giving a lecture or presenting at a conference can earn the speaker 3 CLUs. Listening to a one-hour lecture or presentation can earn you one CLU. That unfortunately cuts out any acknowledgement for attending PLDC Keynote addresses or papers presented in the PLDC Research tracks. The latter have been shortened to 25 minutes, which is in line with the timing for academic and scientific paper presentations.
A group of professionals is currently working on the structure for a comprehensive continuing professional development platform which will be installed and in operation by the time the PLDC leadership event in 2017 kicks off.
